Senior PHP Drupal Developer (Greenfield projects)


Position Description

Our client is looking for a full-time PHP Drupal Developer to join their growing Development Team, Sydney based. 

Our ideal candidate will be hands-on, passionate about all things web and loves to create engaging and useful online experiences, working on the development of bespoke, scalable systems.

You will be able leverage your extensive web development work experience with custom Drupal development, and Drupal Web Content Management System (WCMS) implementation to build public facing, responsive, ecommerce based Web Applications from the ground up.

You will definitely have over 4 years of commercial, agency experience under your belt, do demonstrate your proficiency in PHP within (but not limited to) a GNU/Linux, NginX/Apache, MySQL environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • You will be responsible for building public facing, responsive, ecommerce based Web Applications from the ground up using the Drupal CMS Platform, including managing system integration work and the deployment and support of these systems to production environments.
  • To contribute to the development and implementation of the software platform, architecture and software development roadmap.
  • To develop, improve, enhance and implement current and new application platforms
  • As a senior, you will also take on additional responsibility as the Development Lead
  • Work with Mobile Application Developers & .NET developers & QA Team
  • Prepare Solution Build definitions, builds and software releases and installation packages
  • Provide 2nd,3rd level support during deployment/installation of software
  • Mentor and manage the workloads of junior/contact resources

Skills required

Development Experience

  • A minimum of 4 years of experience working in major aspects of Drupal web application development and web architecture, with custom Drupal development, and Drupal Web Content Management System (WCMS) implementation.
  • Configure Drupal integrate key contributed (open sourced) modules and develop custom modules, and the core API, CCK, Views.to meet requirements
  • Create responsive themes (based on Bootstrap theme.)
  • Design, develop, and test an overall solution that includes a content management system (CMS), including social collaboration, ecommerce, CMS content entry, CMS content migration, and explicit and implicit personalization, developing content types or content objects, site architecture, and page templates.
  • Demonstrated experience working on greenfield responsive web site projects, developing purchase pipelines and shopping carts/implementing e-commerce

Web Development Skills

  • 4+ years’ commercial experience and proficiency in a range of web development technologies, including PHP, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery, and AJAX
  • Experience with web graphical, browser, and cross-platform issues
  • Experience creating sites with responsive design
  • Caching strategies and writing highly optimized code
  • Experience with debugging and profiling performance issues

Integration Skills

  • Integration with 3rd party systems (PayPal etc...)using REST and/or SOAP methodologies
  • Experience integrating open source and third-party applications into existing systems

Web Server & Unix/Linux Administration Skills

  • NginX 1.6/Apache
  • Experience with UNIX/Linux administration

Database Skills

  • Experience and proficiency in SQL, relational databases and MySQL; with tools like PHP, MyAdmin and the MySQL CLI.

Other experience

  • MVC frameworks (e.g. Symfony, Laravel, CakePHP, Yii) and other modern software design patterns  (Dependency Injection, Facades, Separation of Concerns, SOA)
  • Experience using a version control system (Git/SVN etc)
  • Experience with bug tracking tools (e.g. JIRA)
